If you’re looking for ways to make a child’s space or a nursery even more memorable, here’s a DIY I did last summer that’s sure to please everyone. This table is perfect for meal time & art time, it will enhance your little one’s creativity and fine motor skills.
For this project you’ll need:
- A kid’s table and chair set (we got ours in a garage sale)
- A large dry-erase white board
- Washy tape
- Paint (if you want to change your table’s original color)
I started out with this simple Ikea Table
I painted it with glossy white paint to go with our office decor.
Originally I hadn’t planed to make this a table my son could draw on. I layered gold washy tape on the table with different patterns. However, my son had way too much for removing the tape!
So it was time for plan B. My first option was to make the desk surface into a blackboard but I thought that might be messy with all the dust from chalk. I saw dry erase sheets at Omer DeSerres and I knew that would be the best option.
I cut out the dry-erase board to size and installed it
I also selected Washy tape and installed it on all the legs for a little bit of whimsy!
I installed a sawed curtain rod on the wall with little baskets with everything toddler needs to be creative. We have these special dry-erase markers, crayons, stickers etc.
Voila, a nice table for toddlers to let their imagination come to life. It’s easy to erase and start over! but make sure to give them real paper too keep some of those memories!
