My friend Gina applied for an MBA and told me that the application has an essay question that asks you to provide 25 random things about yourself. I’m not applying for an MBA but I thought this might be a good exercise!

  5. I can’t spend a day without my Earl Grey Tea. The mix of black tea and Bergamot plant brings joy to my life!
  6. My first job was working as a clerk in skill games at La Ronde. I spent my whole day screaming to get people enticed to play whatever game I was hosting. This summer job offered a great experience in customer service and made me come out of my cocoon as a shy person.
  7. I majored in English literature because I love to read and write.
  8. If I wasn’t a Interior Designer I would be a writer

  10. I love baking. In my last office job, I had a hard time fitting in and the environment was stressful. I started baking cupcakes every Monday because I know there is only one way to people’s heart. Not only did I find a new passion, but my coworkers started liking me and the morale in the office was lighter!
  11. My mother tongue is French!I went to school in French until college and decided to try something new.
  12. Speaking about college. I attended John Abbott College although it was a two hour commute from my place. The first semester I picked my classes from 8:30 in the morning! I woke up at 4:45 AM (it was dark outside),  when I came back home it was also dark.
  13. I didn’t have friends until I was nineteen. Growing up I felt insecure about letting others in. I was afraid to get hurt or to hurt others. I started reading the Bible, getting to know others in the community and I decided to try building friendships. Yes, I got hurt and I hurt people too,but it’s worth it.
  14. I was born an raised in Montreal. My parents are Haitian and we went back to live in Haiti for 10 months in the late 80’s. Going to Haiti was a life changing moment in my life. After our stay I let go of my entitled attitude and became more joyful and grateful. Haitians are a People that never complain. I want to be like that!
  15. Before my toddler Ezra, I had another baby… My late perky Jack Russel Mylo. He drowned in a river, right before my eyes and that was one of the saddest, most shaming moments of my life.   16. I used to take piano lessons as a kid but I stopped because I didn’t want to trim my nails. So Vain!
  17. Growing up I’ve always wanted to have a fair skin like my mom. I tried everything: Lightening creams, covering up in the summer and even eating  a lot of carrots (A Caribbean tale says if you eat a lot of carrots the beta carotene will help lighten your skin). At a point my palms turned orange!
  18. I am obsessed with being on time. I always pack my bag, lunch and prepare my clothes the night before and I aim to be ready at least 15 min before it’s time to leave. Even with a new born and now toddler, I still manage to arrive to everything 10 minutes early.
  19. I take a 2 min shower. I can’t remember where but I read an article that stipulated that a 2min shower is the equivalence of the water 1 person uses for a whole day in some African countries. This is my weird way of showing empathy and to be conscious of water waste.

  21. My Hero is: My parents, who both immigrated to Canada young and penniless but they struggled to integrate a new country. They are examples of resilience, and hard work.
  22. My favorite movie of all times is “Bridget Jone’s Diary”. It makes me laugh every single time. My favorite line: “You have Absolutely no messages, not a single one, not even from your mother”
  23. On January 7, 2015, I was driving to meet a client when I heard the news about the Charlie Hebdo Shooting. I had to stop the car because tears were clouding my eyes. The tears started slowly and then I had a full blown panic attack. After that event I made the decision to stop listening to the News. It wasn’t the first time I found myself being uncontrollably shaken by News. The Media makes the world seem like such a crazy place. Maybe it is crazy, but the sensationalism doesn’t help.
  24. The best book I ever read is: “I thought it was just me (but it isn’t)” by Brené Brown. It helped me make the journey from “What will people think” to “I’m enough”. Specially came in handy with motherhood.
  25. I’m rubbish at anything sporty, I don’t understand the concept of catching or throwing a ball. I was always the last one to be picked for gym class sports and then I brought a note from the “Doctor” with an asthma diagnosis. I don’t have asthma!
