My husband and I love to entertain regularly. It’s great to be in good company and have a good bottle of wine. I don’t always make the time to bring bottles to a recycling center so they take up space!
I recently came up with a great way of reusing my bottles.
I make my own gourmet olive oil and you can too. Here’s how:
You’ll need:
- Empty bottles that have been rinsed (wine, soy sauce, liquor, anything will work)
- A bulk quantity of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Herbs and condiments of your choice (I used thyme, rosemary, garlic, pepper corn,)
Directions:
- Remove any labels from the bottles (Rubbing peanut butter on the label helps!
- Add condiments of your choice inside the bottle. I had one with thyme branches, one with Rosemary branches and another with garlic and pepper corn.
- Add your olive oil
- Seal
Keep your oil in a dry and cool place away from sunlight! The pantry is ideal. Please note that the longer you let it seat, the better it becomes. As your oil quantity reduces, keep filling it up according to your needs.

Just add to your favorite salad with a little salt and pepper and your set!
I’m Curious… What kind of herbs would you use in yours? My sister just made one with chillies! CRAZY!
