I have recently helped a family prepare their home for the real estate market. In the next weeks, I will be sharing a few tips, room by room.

Let’s start with the kitchen, the heart and soul of a home.

*Did you know that 52% of potential buyers make a decision according to the state of the kitchen?

The concept of Home Staging is to deliver a kitchen that is ready to move into with a minimal investment. Also we want to remove any clutter so that potential buyers are not distracted and can imagine themselves in the space.

In Julian and Emily’s case, the kitchen wasn’t outdated, but there was a bit of clutter:

Counter space is a selling feature, unless you are using small kitchen appliances on a daily basis, remove them from the counter space. Esthetically pleasing appliances (nice toasters or coffee machines) can be kept on the counter! In place of small appliances, use beautiful oil containers or a bowl of fresh fruits to stage the kitchen counter. Try to bring in light in every room, by opening curtains or by adding extra light sources. If you don’t have a backsplash, now is a good time to add it on, as it adds a wow factor to any kitchen! No need to spend a lot of money on ceramic tile. For staging purposes I recommend adhesive tiles like these:

These tiles require no special tools, no grout, no glue and they are easy to install or remove!

Julian and Emily didn’t have the time to install a backsplash however they took time to remove clutter from the kitchen counter.

small changes, big impact!
