Having my own line of accessories for the home has been a long-time goal for me! Today I am beyond excited to present the Geometric collection from Sandra Best Décor.
About
In 2010, I travelled to Ghana to visit my husband’s extended family. It was a long 16-hour trip, but what I found on the other side was well worth it. Right away I fell in love with the rich Ghanaian culture, the people, the food, and to top it off, I was introduced to African wax fabric, which is colourful cotton cloth with batik-inspired printing.
I had to find a way to bring that colour and texture back home, and that’s how my line of accessories was born! Each collection offers products with textiles that are curated by me and made by artisans in Ghana. All the cushions are named after some of my favourite places in Ghana. Every collection is a limited edition, so chances are you won’t see these accessories in someone else’s home. As an interior decorator, I love that the cushions are really fun and playful with their pop of colour, yet the geometric pattern with a solid colour allows versatility within any decorating scheme. Here’s a look at the collection!
The Tamale is inspired by the 928 species of butterflies found in Ghana. This rusty orange butterfly batik design set against a dark navy blue background is perfect for bringing a splash of colour to your interior.
The Cape Coast features a classic black-and-white mix. The black triangles and loop pattern in the white is inspired by Cape Coast embroidery. This style is perfect for those who are are nervous about adding colour in their home but want to have more texture and warmth.
The Kumasi offers a traditional West African pattern. You’ll find many colours to draw inspiration from- navy blue, orange, and white. Great to freshen up your home.
The Kente is my crush in this collection! This pillow is made in part with solid wax fabric and Kente, which is a type of silk and cotton fabric made of interwoven cloth strips. It is a royal and sacred cloth of the Akan people, worn only in times of extreme importance. Made from the cloth of kings, this pillow is a great way to express your eclectic love of colours.
The Sandra Best Décor Accessory collection is available now on Etsy, or if you’d like to check them out in person, visit the Boutique Espace Urbain in Montreal. As I mentioned, this is a limited edition with limited stock, so go grab them while you can!
