During summer 2016, I had the opportunity to participate in a social media workshop with Netso Media.
Netso Media is a social media agency that is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs of small businesses like me to bridge the gap between their brand and their customers through the use of different social media platforms.
I met the CEO of Netso Media Mlle. Parker more then 10 years ago while doing my English Literature bachelors at Concordia University.
We had the chance to reconnect lately and when I found out she was a social media expert, I had to learn from her!
Ever since I started the company I’ve managed social media accounts such as Pinterest, and Facebook
But my approach was pretty much trial and error, I had no strategy.
Thankfully Netso media is a firm that offers a social media workshop that help build strategy, create content, have a calendar and many other aspects.
Today I’d like to review the workshop.
About the Worskhop
Netso Media’s Social media workshop is divided in two sessions of 3 hrs each
The workshop is done in a small group to allow some one on one time
The price was 125$ in the summer which I think is great for the amount of information I received.
Netso Media promises to teach us how to:

My Experience
I attended the workshops ready to learn and be better & more strategic with social media but I feel like I got so much more.
For our workshop in the summer, Netso media was renting a space in Espace Urbain Montréal which is a studio, boutique & Coworking space.
As a designer I was captivated by the beautiful space we were in
I also loved that the workshop is geared towards small groups. That night I met 2 entrepreneurs, one in the fitness field and the other in the Beauty field!
Mlle. Parker greeted us with her contagious smile, I mean look at her:
I was pleasantly surprised to find that she had prepared a bottle of water for us as well as a binder with all the content of the class so it would be easier to take notes.
First and foremost Mlle.Parker is clearly passionate about what she does. She exudes passion and its contagious. I showed up anticipating things to be very complicated but her passion soon got me excited to learn.
At the beginning of the workshop Mlle.Parker had each entrepreneur present their business as well as what platforms they use and why and talk about why they were present for her workshop.
Throughout the evening as she presented different points she made sure to give concrete examples for each entrepreneur and their field or target client.
At the end of the class she even gave us little homework to do so we could apply what we were learning in class.
What I loved the most is that in the binder she presented there was a list of up to date applications that can help me get my work done.
Would I recommend this workshop to anyone? Absolutely!
In my case I learned how to clearly define strategy, and I was surprised at the amount you need to post to generate a following… In the example of Instagram for example, I was posting once a day with no hashtags. Mlle.Parker mentioned that is was important to post about 4 to 7 times a day and put as many hashtags as possible. I can say I have seen the result, By the end of the year I turned one follower into a real life client!
