Welcome to the newest addition to the Thrifty Decor Series.
Every week, I show you how to furnish a room using items that are used and 1 splurge. I spend time scouting on Craigslist Montreal for great finds.
Maybe it’s because spring is slowly making it’s way to us, but there was a lot of great items on Craig’s list this week, it took a lot of discipline to choose only a few items!
Here’s what caught my eye:
The first item is this Art Deco faux fireplace mantle from the 1900’s. I love that the mantle is made with heavy plaster and the brick detail on the inside is a nice touch.
Those fabulous Samton Chairs are worth at least 285$/each in a new condition. This seller seems to have kept them both in good condition with the original blue leather fabric.
Talk about a wow factor in a room!
After finding the fireplace and chairs, I started narrowing my search for more vintage items.
I thought this sideboard could make a good television stand. Besides it has three siding doors with plenty of interior storage.
This sectional is not completely used or completely new… It’s a floor model. This is a great way to save money and not worry about bed bugs! The original price was 1499$ so its a read bargain!
Last but not least I went on a hunt for a rug that could pull together this room. I have found that rugs tend to be the items that I have a hard time finding used so it’s often a splurge element in my Thrifty decor series and in real life!
Since we already spent a lot on the sofa, I decided to shop at target and found the perfect rug:
This rug has little touches of blue, white and grey and I laughed out loud when I noticed the diamond pattern that strangely resembles the pattern on our fireplace! I love when that happens!
Here’s what our room may look like:
The result is a vintage/mid century living room with charm and a touch of color!
What do you think?
