Welcome to another edition of Thrifty Decor.
Every week I am on the lookout for good deals on Craigslist’s Montreal! If you stick with me I can show you how to have the room of your dreams and save money! And by saving money we can add 1 splurge element to pull our room together!
This is how I shop for my own home. There are very few “new” elements, and I am not ashamed!
This week I found great furniture for a dining room:
It all started with this interesting bench. A bench is great for a narrow house or small dining space. The owner states that this bench was actually from the Dominion Textile plant in Salaberry that shutdown 20 years ago. A little bit of history could be part of your home!
This table is not used, but it comes from a little shop where items are hand made. I know this price is hard to beat for a 5 foot table.
I found these great vintage chairs. The base could easily be sanded and painted glossy black. The owner stipulates that one of the chairs needs repairs but at this price I think it’s totally worth it!
Last but not least I found this electric fireplace. I love the idea of having a fireplace in the dining room. With a little paint this fireplace could be lovely.
As a splurge element, why not add this beautiful light fixture. It combines the rooms vintage and industrial look.
Here’s a final look at what our dining room could potentially look like.
Note: After adding all the elements together, I thought the fireplace looked good in white. It adds warmth without stealing the show.
I think this is my favorite room of the series yet! How about you?
Be sure to check these spaces: Living room, Entry way, Bedroom and Sitting room!
