My hubby and I waited six years before adding a child to our family.

Having a baby was a hard transition for us physically, emotionaly and decorationally!

I am going to be honest here, I’m a design minded kind of person my hubby is not!

When it came to integrating baby into our home we didn’t agree. Hubby wanted to give up an entire room to transform in to dedicated playroom and I refused to babyproof in order to maintain our aesthetic.

In the end we both compromised, we decided to allow a little room for our child in each space except the master bedroom because that’s our little haven! We also found ways to baby proof while maintaining a little aesthethic (just a little).

Baby Proofing

Baby proofing is a personal choice. I had a friend who paid 400$ to see a specialist and followed every recommendation for another 1000$. Hubby and I wanted our baby to be safe without spending too much money and knowing our baby would outgrow that phase very quickly.

Since we live in a three floor town house, we installed gates at each landing to prevent little one from falling down the stairs. We added spring latches to the cupboard doors that contain cleaning products but we left him a cupboard of pots, pans and tupperware. We also covered the outlets.

Ezra having way too much fun with our pots & pans!

We replaced our rectangle coffee table with a storage ottoman to avoid sharp angles.

Stylish Storage Bins

Bringing in clean, bright colors and a few new items like storage bins helped me feel inspired and get organized. Now that Ezra is a toddler he can pickup his toys by himself and have a place to put them. Here are a few of my favorite storage bins to corral all of those toys and clutter in your home.

1.Magga basket from Ikea

2.Cube bins locker baskets from Land Of Nod

3.Rainbow tufts basket from Anthropologie

4.Rolling storage crates (perfect to roll under most beds) from Serena & Lilly

5.Broadband baskets from CB2

6.Decorative white & gold bin from Target

I was very inspired to see how different couples integrate their children into their space. I think it’s possible to have a home that is child friendly and still fits in with our own personality. Here are some of my favorites:
