The living room is typically the most pleasant room in a home. After the kitchen it’s the room where people spend most of their time.
When selling a home, make the most of your living room by making it inviting and comfortable to the max! The base of staging a living toom is in the layout.
The layout of the living room should always be around a focal point. What’s a focal point? Basically it’s a point of interest. In a living room it’s typically a fireplace. But no worries, if you don’t have a fireplace, use architectural elements like a bay window, a column or a collection of art on the wall to define this space. Once the space is defined, regroup your furniture around it.
Most of the time there is too much furniture in a living room. I often advise my clients to limit their furniture to a sofa and 1 or 2 chairs. It’s always better to have less than too much!
Tables are not only functional, they become great tools to display decorative accents or to place lamps.
Beware, the television should never be the focal point of the living room, it should meld into the decor or be removed if possible.
