Welcome to the wonderful Thrifty Decor Series!

Every week I shop for used items on Craigslist Montreal, I select a few elements to create a room and add 1 splurge piece. So far we have done a living room, a bedroom and an entry way! I get very excited about this series because this is how we’ve furnished our home and people never believe me!

Buying used items can have complications; bedbugs, figuring out delivery, items not being in the condition it was portrayed etc. Sometimes You just get lucky, so I think it’s worth the time & effort to save on money and to save our environment by reusing furniture!

Talking about luck, I found an almost new Structube sofa on Craigslist and the owner stipulates it comes with a 1 year warranty. This sofa is currently on sale at Structube at 699$, but by buying a used, you save on the tax and you might be able to negotiate the price.

I also found a great antique accent chair that the owner re-upholstered herself.

This sleek and stylish looking console table is worth 2000$ but is being sold for 750$

Its really funny how some days you can really find elements that go well with each other. I saw this antique glass coffee table with gold trim that would be perfect in our sitting room.

I think it’s nice to match the gold trim with the silver from the console above, but if you still have doubt, a little silver spray paint will go a long way!

Our room is pretty much complete, now comes the splurge, a beautiful floor lamp. Noticed I chose a lamp with gold finish to mix & match silver and gold trim in some of our furniture selection.
